Episode 009: Preparing for Heart Surgery After a Down syndrome Diagnosis
50% is significant... and that's the probability that a baby born with Down syndrome will have at least one hole in their heart, often needing repair. We thought we got a pass on the heart issues, but we weren't so lucky. At four months we put our baby into a nurse's arms, and waited anxiously as a brilliant team worked to repair her heart.
But what about those four months before the surgery? How did we find out? What did we do? How did we react?
Today's episode dives into these questions as we discuss how our hearts and minds, and Genevieve's body prepared for an open heart surgery.
