Episode 023: An Entire Month of Christmas!
The Hap Happiest season of all came and went. Fast. 2014 was a blur. It felt like we had Thanksgiving, then suddenly we were singing Silent Night holding candles, and Christmas season was over. We weren't intentional about celebrating the season, and it was sad. I always wanted Christmas to feel like a Norman Rockwell piece, but instead it felt like a notepad doodle.
So! We decided to change it. 2015 would be a year to be intentional through the entire season. I mapped out every day. I looked up holiday events, bought candy canes, popcorn tins, ornaments, etc. and we were off. The day after thanksgiving we cut down our Christmas tree, and for an entire month, right up to Christmas, we found a way to celebrate. Opening a small gift, singing in a nursing home, watching Home Alone.
The result? It was crazy... but we loved it! We felt full of the Christmas spirit that year, so we made it a tradition and we gave it a name.
Month of Merry Christmas!
Because that's what it is; an entire month of celebrating Christmas. We have traditional celebrations, fun new celebrations, gift celebrations, and giving celebrations. The stories and memories will last a lifetime.
